Jet Airways, Kingfisher, Emirates, Singapore Airlines and Air India offer 20%-30% discount & excess baggage allowance of up to 60 kg to students travelling abroad.
Jet Airways, Kingfisher Airlines, Emirates, Singapore Airlines and Air India are among those offering doles to students travelling abroad. Most of the airlines are wooing students travelling overseas for higher studies this year considering the slump in travellers – the students are the only hope of their survival.
With over 60,000 Indian students travel aboard for further studies annually – the student segment brings in significant revenues for airlines between July and September. The market is getting bigger as countries like Australia and New Zealand are seeing Indian student traffic growing almost 100% year-on-year.
The schemes include
- 20%-30% discount on tickets
- Free stopover visits and site seeing
- Excess baggage allowance of up to 60 kg (prescribed allowance of 23 kg)
- Freebies worth Rs 11,000.
On an average students travelling for the first time carry 20 kg of excess luggage, which is over and above the average prescribed allowance of 23 kg on international travel. For every kg of excess luggage airlines levy a fee of 1% of the basic fare price. For example the basic fare to US at the moment is Rs 25,000 and for every excess kilo airlines will charge Rs 2,500. Which means, a 20 kg excess luggage will attract additional charge of Rs 50,000. That means travelling students now are bound to save upto Rs. 50000.
Jet Airways offer to Indian Students
Excess baggage allowance of between 40 kg and 60 kg for travel to the US, Canada, Australia, Europe, UK, Singapore, Malaysia and Hong Kong.
Tie up with companies like Matrix and Tata Indicom, to offer mobile and WiFi connections with a free-talk time amount.
Free luggage accessories worth Rs 11,000.
Kingfisher Airlines offer to Indian Students
